So with the knowledge of the various trampolines and products on the market, and the brands behind them, the following areas are the key factors you should consider before making your trampoline purchase:

The Trampolines Frame:

Generally speaking, the trampolines frame is made out of steel, and coated with a protective layer to avoid corrosion and damage from the elements. The most common trampoline frame coatings are either heavy duty galvanised steel, or zinc powder coated steel. The galvanised steel trampoline frames are generally a feature of the more expensive trampolines because the coating is more weatherproof and less likely to allow water to react with the steel causing rust. The zinc powder coated products do offer protection, but the life of the protection is not as good as the galvanised steel frame coating on other trampolines. Some of the newer products now offer a zinc galvanised option, which offers great protection for all year round use and durability. A good indicator of frame and bed quality is the maximum user weight of the trampoline, as the heavier this is the greater its stability under duress. The Sweatband.com team recommends the galvanised steel trampoline frame option.

The Trampolines Springs:

The number and length of springs on trampolines, coupled with the material and size of the trampoline bed, are what give trampolines their bounce. As expected therefore, the more springs trampolines have and the longer the springs’ trampolines are, the greater the potential rebound height. Generally on cheap trampolines there will be fewer, shorter and lower quality springs, which results in the springs losing their “memory”, and not offering the same initial spring or durable spring after time. Also it is dependent on the size of the trampolines as to how many springs will be / should be fitted. As a guide, the Sweatband.com team recommends looking for good quality trampolines from brand leaders (who mainly use better quality trampoline springs), and as an idea the following:

Trampolines Size Minimum Number Of Springs
6ft 20
8ft 40
10ft 50
12ft 60
13ft 65
14ft 70
15ft 80

The Trampolines Bed:

The bed of trampolines is also important as it can impact on the bounce of the trampoline, and is a consideration for durability and feel. Good quality stitching, a strong fibre and quality fixings are all essential to guarantee a good product. At Sweatband.com, we only use recognised trampolines brands. Therefore, we can guarantee that all of the trampolines beds, and materials used, meet industry expected standards for durability, quality of materials and fixtures used, as well as being hardwearing, non abrasive and long-lasting. For this reason the Sweatband.com team happily recommends any of the trampolines listed on the site.

The Trampolines Size:

The size of trampolines you buy is of course determined by the space you have for trampolines, the budget for trampolines and the age of the people using trampolines. The older the users, the bigger the trampoline should ideally be. This reflects the space required to get the most out of trampolines, and allow the user to develop with the trampoline over time. The bigger trampolines will offer greater spring and bounce than smaller trampolines due to the extra elasticity of the bed, and the greater number of springs required. From experience, the most popular lines appear to be the 8ft trampolines, mainly due to the compact size, reasonable cost and excellent quality and functionality. The Sweatband.com team recommends at least an 8ft trampoline.

The Trampolines Accessories:

The accessories for trampolines are very important in ensuring safety and comfort for the user. Such accessories include trampoline padding, the enclosure or the safety net for trampolines, the trampoline cover, the trampoline ladder, as well as other products like the trampolines cover’s tie down kits, etc. Many of these lines come as packages either with the trampoline or with each other to allow you to add accessories to trampolines at a later date after purchase. Remember to get good quality accessories, especially the trampolines padding and enclosures. The padding for trampolines should be as thick as possible, made of durable material, and fully waterproof so it protects the user and the elements from contact with the springs, avoiding user injury and frame corrosion. The enclosure should be suitable for the product, made of durable and hard wearing netting, and be used in the right way to keep the user inside the safety area to avoid bouncing from trampolines off the side and injuring themselves. Again, by only sourcing products from reputable manufacturers of trampolines, we at Sweatband.com ensure the trampolines and trampoline accessories supplied meet required industry guidelines. For this reason the Sweatband.com team happily recommends any of the trampolines accessories listed on the site.

The Trampolines Brand:

The brand of the trampolines is very important, as many grey imports appear on the market but are not tested to UK certification and are not supported by warranty or service. This has been seen year on year, and with our extensive knowledge in the trampolines sector, and having seen the result of these inferior trampolines being imported when they go wrong, Sweatband.com morally only retails trampolines from the industry most recognised trampoline brands that manufacture to industry accredited standards, further ensuring your complete safety and satisfaction with the purchase of any trampolines and accessories. The Sweatband.com team recommends always buying trampolines and accessories from a well known brand to ensure you get the right quality and manufacture standard that you would expect.

The Trampolines Safety:

There are many key things to remember when using trampolines, especially as the majority of them are used by kids. To ensure your children and you enjoy, are happy and safe on trampolines there are certain recommendations we would make to guarantee longevity. Firstly it is recommended that children are always supervised when using trampolines to ensure they do not injure themselves. As with any activity of this nature, the priority is the safety of the user. The user should not intentionally jump or attempt to rebound in to or off a trampolines safety enclosure. It is not like a bouncy castle, and the trampolines enclosure is not designed for this, merely to avoid you bouncing in a funny angle and off the trampoline causing injury. Similarly it is not advised to attempt to climb on or over the enclosure of trampolines, or hang things from it, as again, this is not within the design. The trampolines enclosure is likely to tear, not support the body weight in this way, and potentially cause further injury. There are many other safety points that would be recommended to adhere to, and these can be found within the user manual of the trampolines. The Sweatband.com team recommends always reading first the safety instructions for a trampolines use contained within the trampolines user manual to gain the maximum enjoyment and fulfilment from the trampoline at all times.
